ABOUT MAKAR MAKARIAN

I am actively pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, along with a certificate in medical and clinical affairs at KGI. On campus, I serve as president of the Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO) chapter.Currently, I work as a medical writer, where I distill advisory board meetings into actionable PowerPoint reports for clients such as Bristol Myers Squibb and AstraZeneca. My work focuses on various oncology areas, including multiple myeloma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and metastatic breast cancer.I carry practical experience as a former medical affairs and scientific communications intern at Clinical Care Solutions. In this role, I supported publication strategy, developed weekly newsletters, and collaborated directly with scientific managers and fellows on diverse projects. As an early-career professional, I am enthusiastic about exploring diverse pharmacy-related opportunities to broaden my experience and knowledge.I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from CSUF, where I gained hands-on experience in Dr. Pecic’s medicinal chemistry laboratory as a student research assistant, as well as a chemical stockroom assistant for the Chemistry and Biochemistry department.I conducted research related to the cholinergic hypothesis of Alzheimer\'s disease, synthesizing donepezil analogs. These acetylcholinesterase inhibitors were evaluated through molecular modeling, ADMET property predictions, and biological assays. My work culminated in a first-author publication in the Journal of Molecular Structure, achieved through close collaboration with peer lab members and my principal investigator. This research allowed me to be qualified to attend the 35th Annual CSU Systemwide Student Research Competition, where I earned 2nd place in my category. In my free time, I like to train no-gi jiu-jitsu, preferring the discipline\'s faster pace compared to the traditional gi style. I enjoy practicing yoga, grilling shish-kabobs, and spending time outdoors. I am also a tea enthusiast, with raw puerh and select oolong varieties as my favorites.
