ABOUT MAITREYI BORDIA DAS
Maitreyi Bordia Das is Director in the Development Finance Vice Presidency of the World Bank. Based in Washington DC, she oversees the World Bank’s portfolio of trust funds and financial intermediary funds, policy related to public sector cofinancing and partnerships.Dr. Das is also a leading voice on sustainable development, with a career that has spanned government, academia and international agencies. At the World Bank, she has held several advisory and managerial positions and led numerous policy research and programmatic initiatives across urban development, resilience, water security, health, social protection and social development.Having started her career as a lecturer in St Stephen\'s College, University of Delhi, Dr. Das has been a MacArthur Fellow at the Harvard Center of Population and Development Studies and an advisor to the United Nations Development Program in Guyana. She has a PhD in Sociology (Demography) from the University of Maryland. Before joining the World Bank, Dr. Das was in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). In her personal capacity, Dr Das advises grassroots organizations in her home state of Rajasthan, India.
