About Maithili Appalwar
My grandfather’s forced migration to Mumbai taught me that rural families deserve to earn a living on their own terms, rather than going from the rural poor to the urban poor. That is why, I started Avana - a company that creates products & services that Put Farmers First. I am passionate about empowering farmers to improve their revenues with climate resilient agriculture. I am working to develop a company that pushes for equity in all senses - from fighting for farmers to have their right to protest to pioneering a menstrual leave policy for our women employees.
