ABOUT MAIRAID MCMAHON

I am a passionate advocate, and award winning campaigner, having recently saved a small rural primary school from closure, and previously campaigned successfully to introduce direct public petitions to the Northern Ireland Assembly. In a professional capacity, I currently work for a health charity, and have significant experience across the public, private, voluntary and community and social enterprise sectors. Having worked within both Westminster and Stormont, I have a strong understanding of political decision making, and was involved in the negotiations to devolve policing and justice powers to the Northern Ireland Assembly. I have worked in various roles where I have lobbied to increase support for parents struggling to access affordable childcare, protect the interests of small business owners, and support people affected by imprisonment and their families, as well as working in electoral regulation. With thanks to Ulster University I have also been selected as one of 25 Leaders to participate in a Civic Leadership programme, including residential study at Babson College in Boston, recognising 25 years since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and focussing on building our capacity to be leaders during the next 25 years and beyond.
