About Maidah Salman

I\'m an interdisciplinary graphic designer with an MFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and a background rooted in both teaching and professional practice. I first studied Visual Communication Design and have over 4 years of professional design experience across various industries. My experiences across cultures have shaped the way I approach design, that is with curiosity, empathy, and an understanding of how to connect with diverse audiences.Over the years, I\'ve worked across branding, editorial and publication design, web design, print, and digital media. I often blend mediums to explore the space between content and context. My work is driven by a commitment to inclusive, purposeful design that doesn’t just communicate, but can be related to. My design process is fueled by fascination in the phenomena of translation; what gets lost, shifted, or reimagined as ideas move across languages, mediums, and cultural contexts. Having taught design in academic settings and collaborated with teams in industry, I thrive at the intersection of creative strategy and visual storytelling.Whether I’m designing a brand system, building a digital platform, or taking photos with my camera, I bring a unique, multilayered perspective to every project, one that’s informed by lived experience and a deep belief in design as a tool for meaningful connection and bridging communities.
