WORK HISTORY
Associate Professor @Wayne State University College Of Engineering
Detroit, MI, US
In our lab, vascular tissue engineering is being leveraged for its full potential to solve vascular graft supply and to create authentic benchtop disease models. Our base platform technology centers on a modular vascular construct design, wherein self-organized rings of vascular tissue are stacked into tubular structures creating the final engineered blood vessel. We harness tools of 3D printing, biomaterials, and mechanical interventions to optimize our engineered vessels. The advantage our vessels offer is a completely biological patient-specific graft, composed of the patient\'s own stem cells. The goal of our work is to create new therapeutic options for vascular disease, such as for bypass surgery to treat atherosclerosis and peripheral arterial disease.
