About Mahtab Danai

Mahtab Danai is a first-generation Iranian American born in Canada and raised in the Silicon Valley. As an undergraduate at UC Davis, she founded a public health nonprofit organization, R.I.V.E.R, that provides free health coaching services to urban underserved communities in Sacramento. From her experiences, she learned the importance of building patient trust and providing holistic, team-based care to underserved patients. As a medical student at the UC Davis School of Medicine, she continued work in Sacramento\'s Oak Park community with the TEACH-MS program, Harm Reduction Services, and Joan Viteri Memorial Clinic. Following completion of residency at Seattle Children\'s Hospital/University of Washington, Mahtab worked as an outpatient pediatrician in the diverse community of Hayward, California before pursuing her fellowship in adolescent medicine at Children\'s Hospital Los Angeles. She is passionate about advancing health equity, working with young patients and families, providing trauma-informed care, organizing community outreach, and diversifying the healthcare workforce. Her clinical interests include addiction medicine, gender affirming care, community-based health, and obesity medicine.
