About Mahnaz Maddah

As Director of Machine Learning at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard Mahnaz leads the Machine Learning for Health (ML4H) team, which partners closely with clinicians to develop advanced AI methods that improve health outcomes using clinical and genomic data. An AI technologist, entrepreneur, and multidisciplinary leader, she has over two decades of R&D experience across academia and industry, with multiple patents and products in computer vision and deep learning for life science applications.Mahnaz is also deeply committed to nurturing healthcare innovation among students. She founded the MIT DHIVE program to promote healthcare entrepreneurship, served on the teaching staff for the MIT Healthcare Ventures (HST/Sloan) course, and is a faculty and advisory member of the MIT Catalyst program, MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund, and CIMIT. She is also on the scientific advisory board of multiple early-stage health tech startups.Mahnaz holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL), and a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in EECS from the University of Tehran.
