I founded Sonic Design in 2017, drawing on my engineering background and postgraduate training in acoustics. Since then, I have delivered acoustic consultancy across education, cultural venues, industrial facilities, infrastructure and commercial developments, gaining extensive hands-on experience in environmental noise, vibration control and architectural acoustics. This multidisciplinary work consistently revealed critical gaps in how cities assess and manage environmental noise.Through this work, I recognised a larger systemic issue: environmental noise mapping remains slow, expensive and heavily model-based, rarely reflecting real urban conditions. This insight became the foundation for Resonarc Ltd, which I established in Scotland to develop next-generation environmental noise intelligence technologies. I now lead the research and development of a patent-pending system aimed at enabling dynamic, data-informed noise monitoring for modern urban environments.

ABOUT MAHMUT SOZER
Mahmut Sozer is an acoustics specialist and R&D-focused founder with a PhD in Architectural Acoustics, supported by a multidisciplinary background in engineering, industrial noise and vibration control, and music technology applied to room acoustics and sound system design. Over the past decade, he has delivered a wide range of commercial acoustic consultancy projects across education, cultural facilities, infrastructure, industrial plants, and residential and commercial buildings.He recently founded Resonarc Ltd in Scotland to develop next-generation approaches to understanding environmental noise within the built environment. The company’s first project, developed in collaboration with the Techscaler ecosystem, explores new ways of monitoring and interpreting environmental noise through urban-scale data and systems thinking.His work focuses on bridging acoustics, architecture, engineering, and data-driven systems, with particular emphasis on shaping complex problem spaces and translating them into integrated, multidisciplinary research directions. This includes coordinating across different technical domains and engaging with the Scottish innovation and public-sector ecosystem.
