ABOUT MAHMOUD OSMAN
I am a hydroclimate research scientist with an interdisciplinary background. I have developed my skills in climate data analytics and programming while working on a wide range of problems from basic designs in civil engineering to machine learning techniques for flash drought definition and prediction. I have also extended my skills to collecting observations from the field including data wrangling and quality control. I have had experience working on projects that required commercial software packages as well as open source package, plus developing my own tools thru different scripting languages to achieve anticipated goals. Analyzing and visualizing datasets from a variety of sources ranging from satellite data to personally collected surveys have gained my experience with the varying nature and characteristics of different datasets. I am also experienced with field measurements and sensors installation and data collection as I\'ve set my experiments on multiple USDA fields in Colorado. Currently I\'m a postdoctoral fellow in the Earth and Planetary Sciences department at The Johns Hopkins University carrying out research with focus on hydrology and atmospheric-land surface interactions by analyzing flash droughts and their dynamics.
