About Mahmoud Dabbah
Throughout my graduate studies and postdoctoral training, I have been deeply engaged in understanding the bone marrow microenvironment in both development and hematological diseases. During my PhD at Tel Aviv University, I investigated the interactions between the bone marrow niche and multiple myeloma cells, with a particular focus on secreted microvesicles, identifying a cargo protein as a biomarker for disease progression. Following my PhD, I joined the McKinney-Freeman Lab at St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital, where I studied hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) biology. My postdoctoral work explored how the bone marrow niche influences HSCs in sickle cell disease and during development, providing insights into their regulation and potential therapeutic targets.More recently, I contributed to building the HSC research program at Retro Biosciences, focusing on cell reprogramming and the development of therapies aimed at extending human health span and lifespan. Now, as I step into my next chapter with Altos Labs, I remain a highly motivated and passionate scientist, dedicated to advancing regenerative medicine and translational science.
