About Mahika Mahapatra
Hi! I’m Mahika, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin–Madison majoring in Computer Science. I first got into coding during my freshman year of high school through an intro CS class where I learned HTML and worked with Arduino. That class, along with a PLTW engineering course where I got to design and 3D print projects, really sparked my interest in tech and problem-solving. In my sophomore year, I took a dual enrollment course, Computer Science 250, at UW–Milwaukee, where I learned Java and built a variety of programs. In high school I’ve also taken a number of AP courses, including AP Human Geography, Statistics, Biology, Psychology, English Language & Composition, and Calculus BC. Outside the classroom, I co-founded the Science National Honor Society chapter at my high school to help create more opportunities for students interested in STEM. I’m also a four-year varsity cross-country and track athlete, and in my free time I love running, baking, and being outdoors.
