Develop and introduce innovative packaging concepts based on understanding end-user needs and business requirements. Develop, approve, and order all necessary packaging tooling (i.e. blister tooling, bottle filling slats, etc.) Communicate with suppliers of packaging materials to get all necessary information for FDA filings (i.e. DMF letters, technical data sheets, test results, etc.) Research new packaging processes, techniques, and materials to provide innovative and cost-effective packaging concepts and solutions. Support new product launches in determining the feasibility of new packaging related to cost, timing, and manufacturability, and define risks associated with assigned new product packaging concepts. Creates prototypes of new packaging concepts and evaluates performance characteristics against targets using established test procedures. Collaborates with Procurement colleagues reviews and recommends sources of supply, and ensures supplier can maintain the integrity of the selected package. Work with internal departments and copackers to ensure that the product can be packaged in an efficient manner and recommend new equipment if necessary. Insure design criteria are feasible, recommend alternatives, and issue final specifications. Support cost reduction and value analysis initiatives for the packaging of existing products. Author, revise, and maintain packaging material specifications for each finished good and each packaging component. Provide customer packaging specifications and packaging component specifications to packaging and copackers, reviewing with them to ensure accurate results. Utilizes TOPS software to generate shipper, pallet configurations.
