ABOUT ALI MAHDAVI

An optical scientist whose work spans photonics, optics, LEDs, sensors, and AR glasses. He holds a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and has worked at ams OSRAM and Meta. He is listed as an inventor on several patents related to optoelectronic semiconductor devices.At Meta he led the development of a world-record red micro-LED, through microlens, epitaxy, and device co-optimization, while coordinating cross-functional design projects. At ams OSRAM he built the first photonics design team and served as Program Manager for design, manufacturing, and vetting new concepts. At the Max-Planck Institute he developed innovative methods for in-coupling and enhanced out-coupling in photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
