About Mahadevan S

I lead Novasensa’s hydrometallurgical R&D and work at the intersection of battery recycling, e-waste extraction science, and advanced process engineering. I have developed high-recovery flowsheets for LCO, NMC, LFP, and alkaline black mass, with selective extraction strategies for Li, Co, Ni, Mn, and Zn. My work includes achieving more than 95 percent recovery of zinc and manganese through novel leaching, solvent extraction, and precipitation routes.I am a named inventor on Novasensa’s hydrometallurgy patent and have had the opportunity to learn from leading scientists and practitioners around the world, which has given me early exposure to best practices in scale-up, impurity management, and process optimisation. My prior research experience at IIT Madras and CSIR-CEERI, along with a strong academic foundation in materials science, has shaped the way I approach complex chemical systems.I focus on combining rigorous chemical engineering principles with AI-driven optimisation to build reliable, industrial-scale technologies. This role places me at the centre of Novasensa’s mission to commercialize next-generation hydrometallurgical solutions for critical mineral recovery.
