ABOUT MAGGIE DAHN

I am a researcher, learning scientist, and educator working with the Connected Learning Lab and Creativity Labs at University of California, Irvine. I received my Ph.D. from the Urban Schooling Division of the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies in 2019 with support from an NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship. As a theatre artist and former elementary school arts teacher, I engage in design research to study how people learn through conversation and interaction. I am interested in how art making processes are related to voice and identity development and the role of emotion in learning. These interests concern creating more thoughtful, human-centered, and imaginative learning experiences. My research has been published in the Journal of the Learning Sciences, Computer Science Education, Teachers College Press, Arts Education Policy Review, Learning, Media, and Technology, and Review of Research in Education.
