ABOUT MAGGIE WHALEN
I\'m a health education expert, professional writer, musician, and wellbeing enthusiast. I love making complex health-related topics simple to understand for individuals, communities, and systems. My work is grounded in public health (particularly sexual, reproductive, and population health), and policy. Throughout my decade-long career in health and healthcare, I have sought to help individuals and communities build knowledge, self-efficacy, and navigate the systems that impact their health and quality of life. I have gained extensive experience through various vantage points in the healthcare and wellness worlds, including as a reporter, community-based outreach specialist, health curriculum facilitator, and Hatha/Vinyasa Contemplative Yoga instructor. I feel both proud and humbled to have created digital programming, workshops, and in-person popups that educate and uplift marginalized communities navigating the interconnection of power, politics, and health. I earned an MPH from The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health, and a BA in World Politics from Hamilton College, and strive to ground my understanding and approach to my work in both theory, evidence, and real-world practice, with a focus on real understanding of the communities I serve.
