With 2 PhDs directing the company, we have a large national network and decades of experience in education, research, and government. For more information go to or email us at i•••@stemboomerang.org. I have worked in the areas of molecular biology, genetics, genomics and with engineers, computer scientists, chemists, and others in the area of software development and biotechnology. I have also been in the area of workforce development/diversity in STEM for most of my career. I believe that creativity is a muscle that we can develop and innovation is the most fun. Undergraduate in English from Stanford. Travelled after graduation to Mexico (where my mother\'s family is from), Central, and South America; Alaska; Minnesota; Hawaii, New Zealand, Fiji, and Samoa. During this time, I had a variety of jobs, learned Spanish, worked with Upward Bound, and gained a great love for science, especially Botany. University of Hawaii 19••••79 MS Botany University of Wisconsin 1979 to 1984 PhD Botany, minor Biochemistry University of Wisconsin 19••••88 post doc In my position at the University of New Mexico, I established the area of stationary phase in yeast and discovered new cell types there. Through biochemical, genetic, and, finally, genomic approaches, we characterized quiescent and non quiescent cell types in stationary phase cultures. In collaborations with chemists, computer scientists, statisticians, and other engineers from UNM and Sandia National Laboratories, we developed technology and software for genomic analysis.
