ABOUT MAGGIE RIZK
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, a Certificate in Sustainable Engineering, and a minor in Chemistry. I am passionate about improving environmental sustainability in the private sector through advancements in personal transportation and energy use. During my time at Tesla, I contributed to several projects related to cathode manufacturing, standardization of procedures and design guidance, and waste reduction. I learned to apply my chemical engineering skills and knowledge to ensure the safety and efficiency of the company\'s manufacturing processes and products. I worked with cross-functional teams of engineers, technicians, and managers to conduct hazard and risk assessments, design and implement safety systems, and monitor and optimize the performance of the processes and products. After Tesla, I transitioned to honing a new set of skills as a production engineer on the battery recycling team at Redwood Materials. I am now utilizing the knowledge I gained in how equipment functions (and fails) by working as a design engineer for an upcoming cathode powder production facility at Redwood. I have maintained my passion and focus on reversing the effects of climate change, creating an equitable society, and producing a sustainable economy. I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies, and I enjoy collaborating with diverse and talented colleagues to close the loop and create a circular economy.
