About Maggie Moon
I genuinely believe that all children can learn and thrive, and it is the responsibility of educators to connect with each child and guide them to reach their full potential. With experience in schools across five continents and work in public, private, parochial, single-sex, and international schools as a staff developer, I have learned first hand that good teaching and learning can exist anywhere if the right conditions are in place. For two summers at Teachers College Summer Principals Academy (SPA), I collaborated with a diverse set of administrators to study and refine my craft as a school-based leader with a specific lens on equity. My focus is on ensuring that historically marginalized children and families gain access to the highest quality education possible.As an assistant principal at PS 139 in Ditmas Park Brooklyn, I built on my deep expertise and educational exploration to help create a place of joy, where children discover passions and thrive academically and socially. I am now an AP in my home District 2 at PS 59, continuing the work of striving for equitable academic outcomes for all students regardless of background or learning profile.
