Assistant Teacher @Charlotte Country Day School

As an assistant teacher, I am responsible for assisting the lead teacher in my classroom. I co-teach classroom subjects in writing workshop, reading workshop, and math. I also prepare any classroom materials needed for lessons, homework, and assessments. I assist in the daily activities in the classroom and provide support in classroom management, student feedback, and instruction. I have familiarity with Lucy Calkins, Responsive Classroom, 1 to 1 technology programs, the Amaze Program, Math in Focus, and EveryDay Math. I am also continuously learn how to best incorporate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into our classroom. I have been an assistant in 4th grade (just over 3 years) and Kindergarten (1 year). Outside of the classroom, I have previously been a grade level representative on SLAB, a service committee made up of representatives in all grade levels, and am currently representing my grade level on the Sunshine Committee. I have helped to plan service opportunities within our school\'s community, including the 4th grade trip to volunteer at Crisis Assistance Ministry and the pre-trip information session. I have also worked closely with the Athletic Department to plan and implement cross-department activities and initiatives, including an initiative aimed at promoting kindness and good sportsmanship.
