ABOUT MAGALY RUIZ BARRIOS
As a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Sociology of Law, Criminology & Justice and Communication Studies, I am committed to building a career in law and advocacy. I’m currently preparing to apply to law school, driven by a strong commitment to advancing justice and supporting underrepresented communities through meaningful legal work.My passion for service and leadership was recognized with the 2025 President’s Student Leadership & Service Award (PSLSA). I’ve served as External Vice President of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc, fostering campus and community partnerships, and as a Lead Peer Mentor for the President’s Emerging Scholars program, mentoring first-generation and underrepresented students.Internships with the Governor’s Office of Equity & Accessibility and the Metropolitan Council have given me hands-on experience in policy research, community engagement, and addressing systemic disparities, further solidifying my dedication to equity and social justice.
