About Maeve Collins

From a young age, I have been driven by a deep passion for creativity. I remember using Adobe products for the first time in 7th grade, and I was hooked! This lifelong commitment to design has shaped my career and fueled my ambition to transform ideas into visually compelling and functional realities. During my time at Virginia Tech, I gained significant experience through internships and a co-op, working on graphics and textures for 3D models used in VR training simulations made for the US Navy. These roles honed my skills in creating detailed and realistic digital environments. After graduating in 2022 with a degree in Industrial Design, I expanded my expertise by working in power distribution design, traveling extensively across fieldwork sites in West Virginia, Southwest Virginia, and the Northern Neck of Virginia. This role equipped me with a strong set of technical engineering skills and a practical understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts, further enriching my design perspective. Currently, I specialize in boutique acoustical feature design and manufacturing for typically corporate spaces, focusing on 2D and 3D CAD, 3D printing, design visualization, and digital product rendering. My goal is to create acoustical solutions that not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of environments but also improve their functionality. I enjoy being involved in a variety of projects for fun outside of work. In college, I designed a shoe for a club, taking it from concept to production in India, and I continue to pursue my passion for design through volunteer work. I am currently involved with DSPRA SNDS, an Afrocentric D.C-based group dedicated to evolving the cultural soundscape on the East Coast. As a concept and event space designer, I contribute to their vision of blending cultural sounds with innovative event experiences. I am always eager to connect with fellow designers and industry professionals, seeking new ideas and inspiration. Networking and collaboration are key to pushing the boundaries of design, and I am excited to be part of this vibrant community.
