About Maelee Blancaflor
Maelee Blancaflor is a born and raised Angeleno eager to bring LA’s culture of creativity into the field of international affairs. Her experience spans the public and private sectors, including federal government agencies, multinational law firms, and nationally recognized non-profits. She currently serves as an Immigration Analyst at Fragomen, advising on complex U.S. immigration matters for global talent in the entertainment industry and working at the intersection of global business, immigration policy, and the creative economy. As Director of Communications at Young Professionals in Foreign Policy LA, Maelee shapes the organization’s public voice and amplifies conversations connecting global issues to the region. Her most extensive work experience is with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. There, she devised communications strategies for American Spaces abroad, advised on rebranding the second largest public diplomacy program, and strengthened monitoring and evaluation processes. A first generation college graduate, Maelee earned a M.A. in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Global Cultures from UC Irvine as a UC Presidential Public Service Fellow and Global Inclusive Excellence Scholar. She speaks fluent French alongside rudimentary Korean and Japanese.
