ABOUT MAEDE GAZOR
I am currently completing my PhD at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, where I investigate how intertidal zones serve as accommodation spaces for suspended particulate matter (SPM)—a key process in estuarine stability, habitat formation, and biogeochemical cycling. Using high-resolution field measurements and machine learning models, I explore flocculation, sediment transport, and hydrodynamics across different salinity zones. My observations reveal complex seasonal variations in SPM concentration and floc size, which may be influenced by biological activity such as phytoplankton blooms and microbial processes. These findings provide insight into the complex interactions between sediment transport and ecosystem resilience. I am currently based in Redwood City, California, and I am eager to connect with researchers and professionals working on estuarine and coastal processes, sediment dynamics, and ecosystem resilience strategies. Key Interests: Sediment Transport, Flocculation & Biogeochemical Cycling Sediment-Ecology Interactions & Seasonal Variability Machine Learning in Environmental Science Climate Change & Coastal Resilience Coastal Habitat Conservation & Water Quality Management
