About Madison Nelson

I am the first in my family to attend and graduate college. I majored in English and graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas. I spent the majority of my college years researching and writing essays. Several of my university courses have helped prepare me for technical writing by teaching me how to read quickly and efficiently, write clearly, multi-task, and meet deadlines. I excelled in all my university courses and am a quick learner. While I was pursuing my degree, I worked at Starbucks. I am still with the company and have been for six years, I am a shift supervisor and have learned so many valuable skills from the experience: working with a team to meet a collective goal, problem-solving, effective multi-tasking, delegation skills, and communication skills. As a supervisor, I manage several subordinates while also completing my duties, I maintain an open line of communication with my boss, and I have built an organized routine to help me remain focused and motivated to complete the necessary tasks in a fast-paced environment. While working at Starbucks and pursuing my degree, I tutored high school students in English. I would often help them with essays both for high-school classes and college applications. This consisted of combing through essays sentence by sentence and finding inconsistencies, grammatical issues, mechanical errors, and other discrepancies.
