Madelyn McHugh is a Senior Director in the Crisis and Litigation practice in New York. She builds strategic communications plans and delivers counsel to protect clients’ reputations and mitigate risk related to sensitive situations. Her experience spans industry and is skilled in navigating her clients through high-stress and high-stakes matters, including: litigation, government investigations, social issues, workplace misconduct, and other significant situations.Before joining FTI, she served as the first communications hire at hypergrowth startups, including BlockFi and Human Interest. In those greenfield opportunities, she was charged with building the company\'s external presence, along with that of the founders and senior leaders. While at BlockFi, Madelyn focused on corporate positioning for a founder-led organization while navigating federal and state regulatory challenges, including a landmark agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Before diving into the fintech space, she led external communications at BNY Mellon, the nation\'s oldest bank, to amplify its transformation agenda and supported external communications at asset management firm Legg Mason (now Franklin Templeton). She started her career at Abernathy MacGregor (now H/advisors). Human and animal rights activist. I can generally be found baking copious amounts of bread or serving as President of the Board of the Brooklyn Cat Cafe, tasked with cuddling kittens, identifying and executing on key strategic initiatives and implementing corporate governance protocols.
