Since 2010, I have worked with wounded warrior patients living with post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries, military personnel, veterans, military family members, and hospital staff on creative projects that include collage with leather, poetry, and six-word memoirs; pencil, crayon, and marker drawings; mixed media wire sculptures; model magic clay sculptures; and watercolor paintings at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. 2010-presentAccomplishments:From 2003 to 2009, I worked at Howard University Hospital with staff and patients living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other health challenges on creative projects that include mixed media collage with fabric, leather, poetry, and six-word memoirs; colored pencil, crayon, and marker drawings; mixed media wire sculptures with fabric, found objects, and jewelry; model magic clay sculptures; and gouache, tempera and watercolor paintings. Tapping into my public speaking skills, I facilitated expressive arts workshops for breast cancer survivor groups at Holy Cross Hospital and conferences sponsored by the Washington Cancer Institute from 2003 to 2009.In addition, I have presented best practices about the artist-in-residence program at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center\'s National Summit: Arts, Health, and Well-Being Across the Military Continuum (2013) and the Society for the Arts in Healthcare Conference in Chicago, Illinois (2006) and Alberta, Canada (2007).
