ABOUT MADELINE LASELL GARDNER
As a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), I\'ve interfaced with a variety of pediatric audiences. My passion for pediatric nutrition first ignited in 2014 with humble beginnings as a nanny, as a dishwasher and cook for a CACFP-funded childcare center, then as an intern for a Head Start early childhood nutrition program. In 2017, I completed my post-baccalaureate dietetic internship program with an emphasis in community and school nutrition. The following year, I completed a Master of Public Health degree from UC Davis, where I was involved in research surrounding garden-enhanced nutrition education for school-aged youth. I\'ve since provided nutrition therapy for youth populations at School-Based Health Centers and Federally Qualified Health Centers throughout rural South Carolina, designed a nutrition-focused wellness program to support pediatric patients living with Type 1 diabetes in southeast Georgia, and managed a Head Start early childhood nutrition program in Central Texas. I now provide nutrition-focused technical assistance for state-level obesity prevention and healthy food access initiatives within the early care and education space and more broadly across Texas communities. I am detail-oriented and committed to professionalism, socio-emotional awareness, and lifelong learning. In my work environments, I place high value on healthy teamwork dynamics and prioritize my interpersonal relationships with both colleagues and clients. My professional motto can be boiled down to a quote from Wolf Rinke, PhD, RDN, CSPP:\"It is not what you know, it is what you do with it that counts.\" With my expertise and experience, I aim to empower youth and underserved populations in my career endeavors.
