About Madelene Brooks
Madelene Brooks, received a BS in Accountancy and Masters in Public Administration, from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Madelene’s career centers on accounting for both quasi-governmental state agencies and state agencies serving students in higher education. She spent eight years as an Assistant State Auditor for the Office of the State Auditor where she reviewed internal controls and financial reports for Universities, Community Colleges, Smart Starts, and Clerk of Courts. Madelene has experience in operational accounting at the University of North Carolina in Auxiliary Services, and extensive financial reporting within several community college’s in the North Carolina Community College system. She served as a Business Systems Analyst providing technical training and end-user support for Ellucian’s Colleague ERP system while working with finance and accounts receivable staff at the 58 Community Colleges in North Carolina. On August 1, 2016 she joined NC State as Business Officer for the Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) department in the College of Engineering. In the last 6 years, has been responsible for pre/post award for NIST, NSF, and Department of Defense Grants, management of contracts, accounts payable, billing, and budgeting. Member of the Leadership Team in IES. Specialties: Connecting people (internal and external stakeholders), cost analysis, training and support for end-users with finance and accounts receivable software, and financial reporting and analysis for state agencies.
