About Maddie Woodrick

I am a Mental Health Counseling intern based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, currently completing my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Davenport University. I began my professional development at Lake Forest College, where I studied English writing and social justice while taking on multiple leadership roles within Alpha Phi, including Collegiate Chapter President. These experiences challenged me to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, lead within high-pressure environments, and develop a strong foundation in communication and relational awareness. I gained experience in writing and nonprofit work, all of which centered around connection, storytelling, and understanding people within their own contexts. I graduated in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time that ultimately solidified my decision to pursue a career in the mental health field. I began my work in residential treatment, where I supported individuals navigating substance use and mental health challenges. I later relocated to Utah, where I worked at a trauma-informed, experiential program grounded in the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), supporting adolescents in a gender-inclusive setting while also gaining experience in admissions, operations, and outreach. My clinical experience now spans residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care. I facilitate groups and provide individual therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a focus on helping clients apply these skills in everyday moments. Alongside my clinical work, I have been involved with the nonprofit i understand love heals for over ten years through writing, community outreach, group facilitation, and leadership. My work is centered around helping adolescents and adults better understand their patterns, regulate emotional experiences, and respond in ways that feel healthier and aligned with their growth. I tend to work with individuals navigating their emotional experience and challenges within relationships; I have a strong interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals and those trying to make sense of more complex internal experiences.I currently offer availability from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays to support a range of scheduling needs. I accept Medicaid insurance and offer a sliding scale fee of $25–$50 per session for self-pay clients.
