As a clinical Genetic Counselor at Endeavor Health, I see patients both in person and via telemedicine, and as part of a genetic counselor-physician collaborative consultation as well as GC-only consultations. Our diverse patient population spans a wide spectrum of indications, including but not limited to cancer (adult and pediatric), general adult, general pediatrics, cardiology, hematology, metabolic, personalized genomic medicine, pharmacogenomics, neurology, nephrology, ophthalmology, psychiatric disorders, among others. As part of this role, I triage Endeavor health system-wide referrals, research and prepare for consultations on unique, rare clinical indications, gather relevant personal and family history, risk assess, provide patient and family member education, order appropriate genetic testing and interpret results, create personalized screening, treatment, and management plans, write family letters and facilitate cascade testing, refer patients to specialists as needed, carry out comprehensive but concise medical record documentation, among other essential clinical and administrative tasks. Beyond the requirements of my role, I also am passionate about advocating for clinic improvement in standardized processes, active participation and leadership on the Endeavor Health institutional ethics committee and the LQBTQ+ Advisory Board, and the pursuit of system-wide new inititives and projects.
