ABOUT MACY FERGUSON-SMITH

Macy (she/they) possesses a passion for healing and advocating for underrepresented populations in the Behavioral Health field as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with the goal of making healthcare more equitable and accessible for all individuals. At the intersection of healthcare and community advocacy, Macy brings 10+ years of experience working with LGBTQ+ youth, college students, and a unique lens to many settings as a Black, queer, mental health professional. After finishing their undergraduate studies at Culver-Stockton College, Macy spent four years cultivating the foundation of her career as a therapist at a residential facility that specialized in trauma-informed care. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from St. Louis University\'s School of Public Health and Social Justice. SLU offered the ability to merge Macy\'s passion for social justice and social work through educational opportunities that went outside the classroom and beyond. Those social justice principles have guided Macy both personally and professionally as a therapist and community advocate. Macy was the youngest Chairperson to guide the City of Quincy\'s Human Rights Commission (20••••22) and a proud member of the Obama Foundation\'s Inaugural cohort of the Leaders USA \'23 program. Recently, Macy completed their Doctor of Education at Western Illinois University \'25 with a concentration in Organizational Justice, Equity, & Inclusion. Her dissertation was entitled \"We Exist in All Spaces:\" A Critical Race Analysis of Black Professionals\' Perspectives During COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter 2020.Core Values: Compassion, Education, Integrity, Advocacy, Boundaries, Authenticity, Justice, and Legacy.
