About MacLain Lobdell

I help corral people and ideas together to bring technologies to life. I have built my career on a love of technology, a love of learning, and the enjoyment of working with people. I started with microcontrollers and learned everything I could about testing, embedded software, hardware design, and customer training & support. I especially enjoyed digging into new technical features and working with customers to implement those features into their products. Later, I completed an MBA and moved into a software product management role where I worked to drive the adoption of real-time operating systems, network stacks, & driver software. I connected with customers and worked with engineering to set the product requirements and roadmaps. Along the way, I built strong relationships with a few key software and hardware ecosystem partners. Throughout this time, I gained expertise in power management, network protocols, and embedded security.Then, I discovered the power of open-source software, online collaborative communities, and tools and frameworks that make prototyping embedded systems easier. I joined Arm in the newly formed IoT group which developed Mbed OS and the Pelion IoT Platform. I got a chance to get more hands-on, gaining more experience with modern software development techniques, as well as, to work with a large and growing ecosystem of partners. Together with a small team of exceptional individuals, we helped manage one of the largest IoT partnerships in the industry. Over the following years, we worked with many partner companies to help them add support for their technology into Mbed OS, which became the most popular IoT operating systems to be developed on GitHub, a huge platform for open-source software development.As a technical account manager I focused on helping partners integrate their hardware with Pelion Device Management, a service for managing large fleets of IoT devices. I helped partners realize the benefits of our partnership through strategic alignment, close collaboration, and project management to deliver great technical solutions. In my roles as Solution Architect, Product Manager, and Director of Engineering, I bring my background in embedded systems, cloud computing, and electrical systems together with my love of working with customers. My mission is to collaborate with customers to understand their needs and deliver solutions that bring real and lasting positive value.
