ABOUT MACK MARSHALL
Early career professional, and previous Sabbatical Officer, working within Higher Education and the Student Union movement to ensure student representatives have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to positively make change.Working at The Union, MMU, I have supported student officers and course reps to have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to positively make change and improve the university experience.After finishing my term as Education Officer at Newcastle University Students’ Union in 2022/23, I worked in Student Voice and Academic Representation at The Union, Manchester Metropolitan University. As Education Officer, I led on key campaigns including lobbying for enhanced support during the cost of living crisis, coordinating the TEF student submission, and other projects including tackling Hidden Course Costs to make higher education as supportive, accessible, and inclusive as possibleDuring my time as a student, I was both a course and school rep, working on supporting the student experience during the pandemic and later working in partnership with university staff on assessment and feedback sprints. I participated in several academic conferences, researching queer politics in the “Middle East” of which I wrote my dissertation on, receiving a First.
