ABOUT MACHIA MULLENS
My interest in sports and entertainment law is grounded in my experience as a Division 1 collegiate women\'s basketball athlete. As a student-athlete, I represented my undergraduate institution nationally as a member of the NCAA Division 1 Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). As a SAAC member, I reviewed, reacted to, and commented on the NCAA\'s governance structure and legislation relating to conference-wide compliance, NIL, transfer windows, and DEI initiatives. My passion for sport and advocacy led me to law school. As a 1L, I spent my summer at Holland & Knight LLP, assisting partners and associates in litigation and transactional matters. Among other tasks, I drafted NDAs and litigation documents, revised organizational documents, researched corporate law questions, coauthored an article on tax exemptions for NIL collectives, and assisted with artist production agreements. As a 2L, I externed with Judge Don Toussaint of the 18th Judicial District of Colorado. I researched, contributed to drafting legal opinions, bench briefs, and case summaries, reviewed legal documents, and performed administrative tasks to support the court.
