My career is not what I expected it would be when I graduated five years ago. Before I started full-time I envisioned that I would have a “typical” career path in supply chain. To me, typical meant that I would start in a supply chain department and gradually work my way up within it, essentially “climbing the corporate ladder”. However, over these past years at PepsiCo I have been given the opportunity to move between multiple departments and have vastly different roles. I am grateful for this experience because I enjoy the challenge it presents and how much I have been able to learn in the process. My career has also not been typical because I am now in a role that has little to do with what I learned in school. While I am still connected to supply chain, which was one of my majors, I am now more embedded within data analytics. Making this transition has required a lot of in-role training and learning but has given me the opportunity to learn both hard and soft skills that I know will be useful in any future role.
