About MacAela Goodin
As the inaugural Music Teacher at Richmond College Prep Schools, I designed and launched the school’s first music program for K–8 students, integrating social-emotional learning and trauma-informed strategies. The program emphasized Black and Latinx contributions to U.S. music, fostering creativity, community, and emotional regulation while supporting students’ academic and behavioral growth across elementary and middle school. In addition to teaching, I facilitated small-group and individual support for students with behavioral and emotional challenges, applied de-escalation and crisis-intervention strategies, and collaborated with counselors and staff to develop plans that met students’ unique needs. My experience in education and social services has strengthened my ability to build trusting relationships with youth facing adversity, advocate for their needs, and provide practical, evidence-based support. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work to enhance my skills in direct practice, with a focus on working with children, adolescents, and families to promote well-being, resilience, and equitable access to resources.
