Mechanical Design & Simulation Engineer in the Drive Systems group developing advanced low-volume electric powertrains for Formula One, Formula E and Mercedes AMG road car applications. Responsibilities include- Own the lifecycle development of high-performance powertrain systems (mechanical, cooling & high voltage) from concept and architecture through detailed design, validation, commissioning and root-cause fault analysis- Perform advanced CAE analysis including single phase CFD (Star CCM+) for inverter and MGU cooling systems, and multi-part FEA for mechanical assemblies (Abaqus)- Lead fault investigations for project-critical systems, performing root-cause analysis and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues- Develop structural, thermodynamic and electrical engineering tools adopted company-wide to improve engineering capability and standards- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and engineering sign-off within the team- Drive forward-looking design concepts, translating emerging academic technologies into practical engineering solutions- Contribute to peer reviews of concepts and detailed designs, ensuring robust engineering justification and the highest of quality standards.Tools & Methods:Siemens NX, Star-CCM+, Abaqus, Teamcenter, 1D modelling, hand calculations, CFD, FEA, GD & T MS Office, ATLAS.
