ABOUT PONNUSWAMI M

I hold the position of Chairman & Managing Director of Pon Pure Chemicals Group as a first generation self-made entrepreneur with the “Customer First” motto. Hailing from an agricultural family in a remote village in Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu, India. I graduated in Chemistry from PSG Arts College in 1974. At the age of 27, in 1981, I embarked on entrepreneurial journey by starting the proprietary concern \"Pure Chemicals Co\" with just two employees. Under my leadership, this humble beginning has transformed into one of the most preferred chemical suppliers in both domestic and international markets.Pon Pure Chemicals Group is now a major player in the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of basic, specialty, and lab chemicals. With a turnover exceeding INR 4500 Crores, the group operates 28 branches across India and has overseas subsidiaries in Australia, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Bangladesh, employing over 1400 dedicated professionals. Serving more than customers globally, the group boasts four manufacturing units in India and drumming units in Kandla SEZ. Their continuous investment in Research & Development has been a cornerstone of their success and sustainable business growth.I held key positions as Co-Chair: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) MSME National Council & Task Force on Ease of Doing Business for the year 2025-26,Chairman - Committee on MSME & Ease of Doing Business - CII Southern Region, Trustee for Kandla Port Trust at Gujarat, and Senate Member of Dr M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.Was awarded “Rashtriya Samman Patra” in by Central Board of Direct Taxes, Government of India, for being the Highest Income Tax Payer, “Life Time Achievement” Award by Saveetha University 2016, “Distinguished Alumnus” of PSG & Sons Charities on 91st Founders Day of PSG Institution for the year 2017, “Thozil Ratna” Award by News7 Channel 2018, “Self-Made Entrepreneur” Award by Naanayam Vikatan 2019, and Salute to Legends by Sri Krishna Sweets 2019.As founder and managing trustee of Pon Pure Charities I am inclined towards giving back to the society and focusing on education and health care for the underprivileged.
