ABOUT DAN BORNSTEIN
I am an innovative leader and problem solver with over 13 years of experience in the mining and power sectors. My specialty is reducing enterprise risk and enhancing the social license of the companies I work for. I do this by adopting a partnership-driven approach and continuously looking for opportunities for operational and system improvement. Most recently, I worked at Barrick Gold Corporation, where I had several different roles, including acting general manager for the Mine Closure Division and a senior director position (Head of Strategy, Development & Sustainability) for Barrick’s new Asset Development Division. In my last few roles, I reduced the risk posed to Barrick by its closed sites portfolio through improving relationships with external stakeholders, improving site operational performance, reducing the number of sites in its portfolio and galvanizing internal support for investment in sustainable businesses at a selection of sites (which businesses will eventually serve to further reduce enterprise risk at a site- and portfolio-level).
