About M. Claire Koerner
I started my teaching career with few resources and little know-how in 2003 as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador. I worked at a school dedicated to promoting athletics and education as a way out of poverty. I quickly realized that I had found my calling; I have dedicated the last ten plus years of my life to education. After graduate school, I taught in Washington, DC for five years. One of my primary responsibilities was mentoring undergraduate and graduate level students who worked in my classroom. In 2011, I was recruited to teach and design curriculum abroad. I currently work as a fifth grade language arts and Project teacher at Duke School. I have been in charge of Student Life, the hiring and recruitment committee, curriculum design, Project Approach Teacher Education Network, and a member of the SAIS accreditation team.
