California Arts Advocates is a comprehensive lobbying organization for the arts, culture, and creative industries and workforce. VALUES- Arts are a human right- Arts are central to public well being- Arts are essential to a diverse and just society- Cultural equity is essential to achieving social change and justice WE DO THIS BY- Monitoring and analyzing legislation and public policy- Lobbying to support legislation that benefits arts and culture and oppose legislation that will have a negative impact- Providing coordinated testimony and evidentiary support materials at public hearings- Research and policy briefs to support cultural policy development- Advocating for accountability and transparency to prioritize advancing racial justice and equity in the arts- Building coalitions to represent a unified voice for the field- Empowering advocates with the tools and language to engage policymakers - Alerting and advising the arts community on necessary responsive action- Educating the public and specific interest groups to the positive impact the arts have in the overall quality of life in California, including education, the economy, and solutions to social problems- Involving other businesses, industries, and the public in the support of arts and culture- Engaging media in campaigns to increase the visibility of arts and culture- Promoting public dialogue and discourse on the role of the arts in culture in every community in the state- Educating policymakers to the value and impact of integrating arts into policy solutionsTo develop strategies and coordinate advocacy that strengthen arts and culture in California
