Lead all aspects of company’s tax function: compliance, provision in accordance with ASC 740, strategy, planning, forecasting and research. Responsible for corporate income taxes, payroll taxes, property taxes, sales tax, and business licenses. Key representative for financial and regulatory audits; outside consultants and shared service teams. • Lead implementation of Tax Legislation: Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), CARES Act, American Rescue Plan (ARPA); & Local Proposals (San Francisco, Oakland). Prepare communication and lead presentations to VP of Finance, Corporate Controller, Accounting and Tax Teams.• Achieved significant tax savings through tax planning under the CARES Act that allowed NOL carrybacks. • Manage year-end provision calculations (tax footnote, tax accounts reconciliation, ETR, deferred inventory, tax entry, & presentations to management); prepare and respond to audit firm’s PBC requests and provision related questions.• Lead corporate compliance of tax returns, quarterly estimated payments calculations and forecasts. Manage external tax advisors for the review of the returns. • Lead indirect tax compliance, forecasts, and research for payroll taxes, business licenses, property taxes, sales tax, and informational reporting • Responsible for cross functional work with leaders in Accounting & Financial Reporting, Human Resources, Legal, Payroll and Accounts Payables on various projects (ex: Travel and Reimbursement Policy update; HR Connect (HCM implementation), COBRA Subsidy Credit, Qualified Settlement Fund payments (QSF), etc.). • Develop and document technical position and policies. Prepare key positions communication to leadership.
