About Lynne Omara

I currently serve in three key leadership roles across Mass General Brigham: as E-Care Clinical Director for the West Health Accelerator, Senior Administrator of Inpatient Operations at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), and Clinical Program Manager for the BWH Center for Geriatric Surgery. In these roles, I lead initiatives that improve care for older adults, advance operational efficiency, and strengthen the impact of advanced practice providers across care settings. With over 12 years of experience in academic medicine—including surgery, trauma, geriatrics, and critical care—I bring a unique combination of clinical insight and strategic leadership. I’ve helped drive complex care redesign efforts aimed at improving patient flow, reducing hospital mortality, and expanding access to goal-concordant care.Key initiatives include:* Reducing in-hospital mortality by launching a cross-functional hospice care improvement initiative, which received system-wide recognition and helped drive a sustained decrease in observed-to-expected mortality Vizient ratios from >1 to 0.6.* Improving hospital throughput through redesigned departure lounge, interdisciplinary rounds and regionalization efforts, resulting in reduced LOS and more efficient patient progression.* Assisting with the launch of the BWH Center for Geriatric Surgery, a nationally verified program by the American College of Surgeons, focused on optimizing surgical outcomes in older adults. This work contributed to BWH\'s recognition as a top performer in geriatric surgery by the ACS.* Leading electronic medical record optimization to better support age-friendly care practices, with a focus on fall prevention, serious illness documentation, and interdisciplinary coordination.Nationally, I serve as President of the AAPA’s Geriatric Medicine PA Constituent Organization and hold leadership roles with the NCCPA, AGS, and ACS Geriatric Surgery programs, where I contribute to national standards and best practices in geriatrics and surgical safety. My work is rooted in advancing age-friendly, high-reliability systems that center the patient experience—particularly for older adults navigating complex care. Let’s connect if you’re working to advance age-friendly health systems, surgical optimization, or team-based innovation in healthcare.
