The pedagogy of Paul Rolland is known worldwide for its focus on how one moves when playing a string instrument. Mr. Rolland said,\"If sound is produced through movement, then the quality of our movements determines the quality of our sound\". His belief was that we play with our whole body rather than parts, and that pain-free playing using gravity to play rather than fighting it was the secret of beautiful sound and a personal music expression. To this end, he developed a series of films (now a DVD) and a book both called,\"The Teaching of Action in String Playing\". It is on these hallmark works that Lynne bases her presentations at the Paul Rolland Workshops given worldwide.

ABOUT LYNNE DENIG
Lynne was Paul Rolland\'s last degreed graduate assistant at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana where she studied violin with him, participated in his year-long pedagogy course, and attended his very last summer workshop in 1978. Since that time, Lynne has led workshops in Hamburg, Germany and in London, England, and Madrid, Spain on Paul Rolland Pedagogy. In the United States, she was director of the Paul Rolland Workshop at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA under Summer Programs) from 20••••13, and she regularly gives presentations on Rolland Pedagogy at American String Teachers conferences and at GMU\'s Rolland Workshop.
