About Lynn Wickersham

I have over 20 years of experience as an Avian Ecologist, with an emphasis on reproductive ecology of Neotropical migratory birds. I co-founded Animas Biological Studies (Durango, CO) in 2008 with my husband John Wickersham. Prior to launching the company, I worked as an environmental consultant authoring hundreds of technical documents and managing projects related to threatened, endangered, and sensitive birds. Throughout my career in ecology, I have procured over 2 million dollars for avian research projects, presented research findings at scientific meetings, and published peer-reviewed articles. My primary interests are the impacts of land use and land management practices on movements, habitat use, productivity, and recruitment of birds. I am skilled in current techniques in avian research and monitoring including project design, field methods, and bio-statistics. I hold a Master Bird Banding Permit from the U.S. Geological Survey Bird Banding Laboratory. In addition to her position at Animas Biological Studies, concurrently from 2008 to 2016, I served as the State Project Manager for Colorado\'s Second Breeding Bird Atlas, a grant-funded position with the San Juan Institute of Natural and Cultural Resources at Fort Lewis College. My work on the Atlas culminated in publication of a 744-page hardcover book in November of 2016. I am also a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and experienced yoga teacher (E-RYT500). I own and operate Birdsong Yoga Therapy, and co-own Yogadurango (both in Durango, CO). I have taught yoga since 2007 and am also a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider (YACEP). I specialize in private and small group yoga therapy programs to address grief, chronic pain, and neurological disorders.
