ABOUT LYNN HIRSHFIELD

Lynn Hirshfield is Participant’s Head of Strategic Alliances and Publishing. She joined Participant Media in September 2005 and is responsible for leading strategic partnerships for the company. Lynn also launched Participant’s publishing division to complement the company’s films and social action campaigns. She has since published 10 books with PublicAffairs/Hachette, two of which hit number one on \"The New York Times\" bestseller list and is the author of \"Girls Gone Green\" and two more books for younger readers, the \"Sassafras\" series for Penguin Books. Prior to joining the staff of Participant, she consulted for a number of film industry-related digital content and technology start-ups, and various studios and venture capital groups specializing in creating new verticals, content deals, and generating strategic partnerships with corporate sponsors. Previous to entering the digital content arena, she worked as a development executive for productions garnering a number of awards, including four Emmys, a Peabody Award and two Television Critics Awards - among them the PBS series “Wishbone.” She was also a story editor for National Geographic Feature Films, Scott Rudin, Norman Lear, Tim Burton and Sony, Fox and Warner Bros. Studios. Lynn is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and the Radcliffe Publishing Graduate Program at Harvard University. She recently independently executive produced two documentaries, “Augie” (about ALS) on Hulu and “WiSci” (about the US State Dept.\'s STEM camp for girls in Africa), both directed by award-winning filmmaker James Keach. She is an active member of the Producers Guild of America, serves on the advisory boards of the Savannah Film Festival and Jackson Wild. She is also a member of the BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Network and was recently appointed to the Earth HQ Advisory Board, which is part of the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Most recently, she joined the board of the Barbara Bush Foundation focusing on literacy advancement for all. She also serves as a board member for food system and oceanic NGOs Lexicon of Sustainability and Fed By Blue.
