ABOUT LYNN FONSECA-BATALLA

Hi I’m Lynn Fonseca-Batalla, thanks for stopping by! I’m currently pursuing a B.S. in Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics at UC Santa Cruz. I was drawn to this field because of its wide-reaching impact, especially in advancing clinical research and i’m also passionate about advocating for underrepresented communities in science and healthcare. Right now, I’m working with a student research team to develop a plasmid-based system that uses aptamers to remove mycotoxins from aqueous solutions, a project aimed at improving food safety in a sustainable way. As a Santa Cruz native, I’ve always carried a strong sense of community and the importance of giving back. That mindset continues to shape the way I approach both research and science communication. My strengths lie in wet lab techniques, biology, and translating complex scientific ideas into something more accessible. I’m especially interested in the intersections of molecular biology, genetic engineering, and regenerative medicine.Looking ahead, I plan to continue my education through a Ph.D. or another academic pathway, and I’m also open to opportunities in industry where I can apply my skills to meaningful work.
