About Lynette Andreasyan

As a dedicated Neuroscience student at UCLA, my research experience spans several areas of neuroscience, including stroke imaging, neuropharmacology, and clinical trial support. I currently serve as a Clinical Trial Research Intern at the UCLA Stroke Program, where I contribute to data analysis, inventory management, and protocol development for stroke studies. Additionally, I volunteer in Dr. Saver’s Lab, conducting research on stroke onset detection using advanced imaging techniques such as DWI-FLAIR Mismatch. Through my volunteer work with UCLA’s Stroke Team, I continue to gain valuable clinical experience by shadowing inpatient stroke rounds at Ronald Reagan Hospital and supporting the outpatient stroke clinic under Dr. Saver and Dr. Sharma, further deepening my understanding of stroke care and patient management. I also contribute to neuropharmacological research in Dr. Spigelman’s lab, where I assist in studies investigating the effects of stimulant compounds on migraine models, contributing to the development of potential treatments for pain-related disorders. As a lead researcher under Dr. Saver’s mentorship, my abstract \"How Often Do Patients Sleep Through the Onset of Ischemic Stroke?\", which examines the frequency and determinants of wake-up stroke (WUS) cases, was accepted for a moderated presentation at the 2025 International Stroke Conference. Additionally, this abstract led to the publication of my first independent research paper. Beyond research, I am deeply committed to community engagement and education. I currently teach K-12 students in Los Angeles Unified School District about brain anatomy and function via Project Brainstorm. Moreover, I actively coordinate events for registered non-profit such as Synapse and Hidden Road Initiative, where I promote the social inclusion of individuals with brain injuries with the former and advocate for children and families in Armenia through the latter. Driven by a passion for both science and advocacy, I continue to pursue research opportunities and mentorship to improve the lives of those affected by neurological conditions and educational barriers.

   As a Crisis Text Line Counselor, I provide real-time support to individuals in their most vulnerable moments, helping them navigate intense emotions with empathy and care. Through active listening and psychology-informed strategies, I work to de-escalate crises and collaborate with texters to build coping strategies for future challenges.
